Well... it's still 2007 here in Hawaii, (several hours left to go) so I didn't break my promise to myself of getting the whole series out by the end of the year! Atho right now my physical condition isn't so great at this very moment... but I am proud of what we've done as a group. Blue and I worked hard on these last few eps to jamm them out.
There were many ups and downs we experienced throughout this series... and many of them were all related to my hectic life situations. There were many understanding fans, and for that I am eternally grateful.

Word to the Wise: This is NOT a PG-13 drama. There is nudity and strong sexual content. When it aired in Japan the nudity was blurred out, but this is obviosuly not so with the DVD version. While Nya!'s normal policy is to bleep swear words out a bit, we felt that due to the nature of this show the bleeping was unnecessary. Don't get mad at us!

Description: This drama is akin to a Japanese version of American Pie (but better). It follows 5 friends (4 guys - Oguri Shun, Ninomiya Kazunari, Yamashita Tomohisa, Narimiya Hiroki, and a girl - Suzuki Anne) who spend the summer of their 17th year together. The guy's mission is to loose their virginity, and Chie (Anne) is their childhood friend who has returned for unknown reasons. It's a somewhat comedic story of love and friendship.

Why is it that I always get all melancholic and sad after I have watched the final episode...?
It is strange, however, I still want to repeat watching everything from the beginning again ^^

StandUp was a pain in the butt as far as translating and subbing went... there were a ton of lines to sub, a ton of lines to trans. Thankgod we had the JapDVD to work with, or else we wouldn't have gotten such good transing done... ^^ Me and Blue had many a headache over this whole project! Well, I got the last three out in a timely manner for a bunch of reasons... but the main one was that it was about time. Now I can focus on other things, and help the group out more since I switched jobs and am looking at a bit more free time. WOOHOO! (My last job was KILLING me!!!) :o

That lack of hugging/kissing/public displays of affection is an Asian thing. Pretty much every Asian country does it... They either gotta be really drunk, super duper in love, or feeling rebellious if they are gonna do stuff like that. But once you've had 'skinship' with them, (IE bathing, etcetc) then you've pretty much bursted their bubble and are now a best friend or something. Makes for an interesting squirming effect when you go to hug your friends! :ph43r:

The cultral and joke explanations also add to the professionalism of your translations and makes you the translators of choice whenever I am looking for subs.

This was one of the first Jdramas that I started watching. A year has past and now I have watched more than 20 and I am studying Japanese myself. Thanks for introducing me to the world of drama and enriching my life this past year!

OMG, you started studying Japanese after falling in love with our version of StandUp!?! That's like, life altering!!! *blinkblink*

Well, keep up the studying. I personally fell in love with Japanese when SailorMoon was brand new, and I have been studying it ever since. Almost 10yrs now. And people tell me that I speak pretty fluently... (But Blue is really the bilingualist so she is the main translator. I just make for the best English editor since I have Japanese under my belt! :P) I think I am an also inspiration to my highschoool students. 'You can be just like me' kinda thing. I think they like it.

So very glad you like our version!!! Really I am!!! We feel like its important to be as literal as possible while making sense, because people really are studying when they watch our shows. And since so much of a language is based on the culture, you really need to learn the pieces of those as well. But trust me, some jokes were extremely difficult to explain because they were based on Kanji or alliteration. And actually we don't have to translate what is being said into swearwords, because technically there are none in Japanese. But c'mon, it was obvious in many cases. So due to the nature of the whole drama we chose to keep it that way.

Funny thing is that the first six eps were done at the same fast pace... and then I moved and got super busy so the rest came out months after each other... hence people started saying we were too slow. :( Nya used to have a reputation for good, fast, high quality eps. Thanks to me we now have a slow rep, even tho other series still get out faster. Sigh. But still glad you enjoyed StandUp. It was my baby for soooo long!!! I'm still so proud of it!

Making of StandUp... hmmm. I do have a DVD with scenes from the making of it, but I didn't have plans for us to translate it. We have so many other projects planned... other dramas, other NekoJarashi projects... Kinda too much at the moment! For the time being I'd say 'No', I don't think we will do it.

Actually I have now seen the "Making Of" of Stand Up!! but there were not any subs on it... It could be so great if I could understand it XD But if your to busy I guess you can't then. v.v

I can`t believe it`s over because it was just awesome, it marked me in a way that I can`t possibly explain so I felt a little sad after the 11th episode

I cannot deny that I truly worship suzuki anne, she`s like my perfect girl.....<3

Actually I searched for almost every Stand Up!! location in google earth and found a lot of them (for example that small bridge where they played with fireworks =D )

Now I`m more convinced that I want to visit Japan, though living in japan would be a dream come true.
