Himeko Himura: As a courtesy to those who have been supporting us all this time, I've decided to offer two versions of this drama. It's a personal decision and one that I'm hoping won't backfire. I've been lead to understand that some computers can't handle overly large resolutions and did a second encode of the same file, reducing it to a 640x380 resolution. I have three computers and only one can handle the larger. I believe that there was a raw file of 704x396 resolution, but decided against using that version for quality reasons. Again, this is just a courtesy and the and the 1280x720 version will always take precedence in release. If you think it's unnecessary or if you think it's a good idea, please feel free to tell us as this is a trial run and I'd like to know how the response is as there isn't a precedent I can fall back on. More than a few people encouraged me to do this, which is why I'm just releasing rather than holding a vote. If all you're going to do is complain, keep it to yourself please. If you don't want it, don't download it or delete it. It's as simple as that. No need to start a fuss. Also, please refrain from asking for re-encodes of other dramas we may have subbed or any demands for dramas that we are currently subbing/planning to sub at this time. These threads are for Osen comments only and hopefully nice ones. We're doing our best to go through all of our commitments and they will be out, whether or not on a timely schedule. This drama and others will be released at our leisure but as quickly as possible as all of us are going through finals and also planning trips to Japan.

WAI!

That was awesome! XD

I think I must be a masochist for loving dramas centered around cooking like this, cause I can't cook for the life of me but it makes me want to eat something really tasty. So, having gotten hungry, I go to my freezer pull out an assortment of frozen goods and chuck it in the micro for a half assed meal. It makes me wanna cry. >.< It was the same with Bambino!!!

But my depression at my lack of cooking skills aside... I can't wait for more or this drama. ^.^ Uchi is just delicious. :P

Thank you for picking up this series. I'm really enjoying it and I'm looking foward to future episodes. I'm also an aspiring cook, I love cooking.

That being said, if I may pose a question to be taken in the most constructive manner possible.

In the first episode, during the cooking competition, Osen-san is chopping a vegetable. I am sure she is chopping leeks; the translation are calling them green onions. I'm going to presume they are leeks and call them so for now as I present my reasons...
1. you can see her choosing the leeks a few minutes earlier
2. when she is chopping the leeks you see another leek in the pan next to her
3. green onions or scallions don't come in such large varieties. They are usually no more than 2 cm in diameter.
4. according to my Japanese to English dictionary, the Japanese does not seem to make a distinction between Scallions and Leeks ("nira" にら, is that the right word I'm using?)

Thank you again for all your work.

I'm actually going to try to katsudon recipe, I just want to see how that might turn out (for those days where I can be bothered to clean my dishes) For anyone else interested here's the recipe...

--------------prep work:
bowl of rice
saran wrap it
Chop onions and put it onto the saran wrap
Followed by katsudon (if you can't get katsudon, you might want to try fried chicken; the batter effect might give some something similar, although it won't be the same)
add a raw egg
wrap it in saran wrap again
---------------cooking:
microwave at 600w for 4 minutes (that's what the episode says)

Thanks for the info...^^

The reason why I chose to translate the word as "green onions", is because the Japanese word was "naganegi" (if I remember right, since I don't have the episode handy at the moment). Though you may be right in calling it "leeks", I decided to stick to what the Japanese people call it. And yes, according to the Japanese, scallions, leeks and green onions are all labeled as being the same thing. We just describe them as either being big or small.

And "nira" means "chinese chives"... I think it's more related to garlic?

Let us know how the recipe turns out. ^^ I was going to try it myself, but I got lazy. :P
