so here in the Kansas City area i found an awesome Japanese restaurant serves lots of traditional meals i had my first good yakisoba
and an awesome katsudon

does anyone have any favorite dishes

I'm also horribly obsessed with Sushi. It should be staple diet for everyone.

Oh gods, how do I choose?! I usually ate at a chinese restaurant while I was in Chiba (Sadly, not Aiba!family's), so I'm forgetting a lot of what my hostmom cooked....

Gaahhh... my mind is going blank on all the stuff I ate there... I slip right back to Coolish (my host dad was an icecream FANATIC, lol).

Well, a lot of stuff you cook at the restaraunt yourself is good:

Okonomiyaki.
Shabushabu.
Yakiniku/Yakitori/Yakisoba ... Yaki-anything really!!

Other than that:

Tenpura'd anything is good!
Any squid dish is good.
That goes for eel too.
Chahan.
Omrice.

There's soooo much more, but those are a few of my faves ^^
